Abaana is passionate about building schools and educating children in Africa. With education, children can obtain the tools needed to help themselves.
Give a child a fish and you will feed them for a day. Teach them how to fish and you will feed them for life. Teach them about fish and they can run a fish company!
Help us help them by giving the children the opportunity to attend school. Abaana has now built 9 schools and has plans to build several more this year. Money raised from F4A will go towards building these schools and equipping them.
Kisole Baptist Primary started in 2002 but really in a sorry state. We did not intend to start it in that state but because of the high demand for education in the area we had to do it that way. We had a good number of children at the beginning totalling to 120 pupils. The only classes we could afford for these children were the grass shelters and tree shades.
Come April 2006, it was a different story. There was a total change. Gone are the days when we used to take just water for lunch. Children had to look for mangoes, cassava or even sugarcane around the village for lunch. Now, children are served food which some of them cannot even afford at home.
Water was fetched from a spring 2kms away from the school. It was far away and very dirty. You can imagine how we felt when we got a bore hole with clean water just in the school compound.
Abaana gave us beautiful buildings, and now with these classrooms, we teach like professors.
I wouldn’t wish to recall our former "so called" latrines. It was really a problem going to the Latrines especially for us teachers because we used to share the same latrines with the pupils. Ooooooolala!!!! Now we teachers have our own.
Recently we just received a fantastic supply of text books. Wawooooo!!! That was great. “We had longed to have such books, now that we have them; our children have to perform to their best,” one teacher said. We also now have standard sports equipment, provided through Abaana.
We currently have 384 pupils and among these, 100 are paid for by Abaana. It is not just their fees that are paid for, but also things like scholastic materials, school bags, uniforms, lunch and more.
Abaana has done a lot. The biggest thing I can manage to give them is performing my best and helping the children achieve their future goals.
